  • About Your Council Member

Victoria Watlington is the proud daughter of MSG (Ret) George Watlington and SFC (Ret) TD Watlington. Born on Fort Bragg into a tight knit family of service members and educators, she learned early on the values of faith, integrity, personal courage, and selfless service to her community. As a military child, Victoria enjoyed a diversity of experiences, being raised in the Carolinas and beyond, including three years abroad. This cultivated in her a “big picture” perspective, respect and appreciation for differences, and a keen ability to reach common ground among competing interests.

After graduating from the University of Florida, where she earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering on a full academic scholarship, Victoria returned home to North Carolina to begin her career in Charlotte. She honed her leadership skills leading manufacturing organizations, coaching LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies, and managing multi-million dollar engineering initiatives. Along the way, she continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she earned an MS in Engineering Management. CM Watlington is a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional.

CM Watlington quickly found her home in Charlotte. Before being elected in 2019 to the Charlotte City Council, she spent the last decade serving the community via various professional and service organizations, including the City’s Civil Service Board, United Way Young Leaders Council, National Society of Black Engineers, Elevation Outreach, and the West Boulevard Neighborhood Coalition Board. A graduate of all four City of Charlotte academy programs, she brings an understanding of the needs of the Charlotte community, and has demonstrated an ability to work collaboratively with public and private partners.
